SIR, WE WOULD SEE JESUS

 

John 11-12 describes a time in the ministry of Jesus Christ where a great divide was taking place. It was right after Lazarus was raised from the dead and people were becoming more polarized.

A lot of Jews and other ethnicities were beginning to believe on Him, but the religious were fortifying their positions, digging in their heels to figure out a way to stop Him… and even kill Lazarus!

The Feast of Passover was near and Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey with multitudes shouting, “Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.” (Jn12:13KJV)

 

Jn12:20-2KJV “And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: The same came therefore to Philip… …saying, ‘SIR, WE WOULD SEE JESUS’”

 

This wasn't the cry of people just wanting to set their eyeballs on a man. The word “SEE” carries with it a whole picture:

to see with an inward perception and discern clearly… TO EXPERIENCE…

 

 

People don't desire to know WHAT we know…

                …they don't need more knowledge.

 

They desire to EXPERIENCE CHRIST firsthand… RELATIONALLY…

                …NOT ANALYTICALLY.

 

 

Sure, we can tell them all about Him, provide scriptures, give all the definitions of every Hebrew and Greek word written about Him…

                …but never SHOW them HIM.

 

 

The desire is: “THAT I MAY KNOW HIM” (Ph3:10NKJV) - to intimately relate to and share in AS ONE…

 

…not analytical knowledge ABOUT HIM...

...but an intimate relationship back and forth WITH Him...

…THE LIVING WORD…

…THE LOGOS - the very thought, intent, purpose, and motive (the very heart and Spirit) behind everything YHWH does and says... what motivates Him... His character and nature... the life force that IS Him...

…and which now indwells us. 

 

 

 

Knowing more information, facts, scripture, definitions, etc… isn't going to free anyone. 

 

KNOWING – having that intimate relationship with HIM - THE TRUTH - will make you free. (Jn8:32)

 

Where the SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS there is LIBERTY... and THE LORD IS THAT SPIRIT. (2Cor3:17)

 

We forget we are BORN OF THE SPIRIT (Jn3:6)

…and consequently become just a source of information without THE LIFE. 

 

 

“He has qualified us as ministers of a NEW COVENANT,

not of THE LETTER

but OF THE SPIRIT;

for THE LETTER KILLS,

BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE. (2Cor3:5-6BSB)

 

 

People desire to not just see or know something new…

…but EXPERIENCE JESUS CHRIST…

…see HIM face to face and KNOW HIM… the very expressed image of the Father. (Heb1:3)

 

SIR, WE WOULD SEE JESUS!
