YOUR CALLING

 

For some reason we have a tendency to believe that “YOUR CALLING” has something to do with what you are supposed TO DO with your life… your occupation… your gifting… your “anointing”… your ministry.

Consequently, our quest in life has been to somehow discover what we were CALLED to do.

 

But, let's go back to the Genesis… the beginning of what The Creator did when HE CALLED… what it meant… and what it encompassed.

 

The first instance where we see “THE CALLING” of God is in Genesis1

“Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God CALLED the light Day, and the darkness He CALLED Night…” (Gen1:3-5NKJV)

Gen1:8 “He CALLED the firmament Heaven”

“He CALLED the dry land Earth” (Gen 1:10)

“…the waters He CALLED seas” (Gen1;10)

 

God then told Adam to CALL or GIVE names to each living creature.

“…And whatever Adam CALLED each living creature, that was its name. (Gen2:19NKJV)

 

The Hebrew word for CALL is “qara”: to call out to (i.e. properly, address by name) (Strong’s)

 

It is used over 734 places throughout the Bible.

                God “CALLS” Moses “from within the bush” (Ex3:4)

                He also “CALLED” Samuel (1Sam3:4-10)

…and every other time it mentions someone is “CALLED” by Godl

 

 

Isa49:1NKJV  “The LORD has CALLED Me from the womb; From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name”

Isa43:1 “…I have CALLED you by your name; You are Mine.”

 

The interchangeable word in New Testament Greek is “kaleo”: bid, call forth, name, invite

 

It is used when Jesus “CALLS” His disciples (Mtt4:21)

…they were “CALLED” to be WITH HIM! (Mk3:13-15)

 

He knows His sheep and CALLS them by name (Jn10:2-5,27)

 

He chose YOU! (Jn15:16)

HE CALLS YOU BY NAME!

·         Make YOUR CALLING and election sure (2Pet1:10)

·         The Gifts and CALLINGS of God are without repentance (Rom11:29)

·         You are “CALLED according to His plan and purpose” (Rom8:28AMP)

 

Rom8:30NKJV  “whom He predestined, these He also CALLED; whom He CALLED, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

 

 

YOUR CALLING has never been about what you do…

 

YOUR CALLING is about who you are!
