THE ALIGNMENT
THE ALIGNMENT
Have you
ever thought, “hey… wouldn't it be great if the body of Christ could just go to
a chiropractor to have an adjustment… put things in order… you know… get THE
ALIGNMENT needed?
The primary
Greek word in the Bible that conveys the meaning of "THE
ALIGNMENT," "the restoration," or "setting things
straight" (similar to a chiropractic adjustment) is katartismos(καταρτισμός).
This
word and its root, katartizo, appear in the context of mending,
repairing, or restoring something to its original, perfect order.
[defined as: adjusted exactly "down" to fully
function]
Katartizo and its variations are translated
multiple ways, but always carrying the same underlying message… i.e…
·
the
disciples “MENDING their nets” (Mtt4:21;Mk1:19)
·
Paul longing
to see the Thessalonians face to face “to SUPPLY what is lacking from
your faith.” (1Thes3:10BSB)
·
“the worlds WERE
FRAMED by the word of God” (Heb11:3NKJV)
·
Christ
stating, “…a body You HAVE PREPARED for Me.” (Heb10:12NKJV)
·
A student
being “FULLY TRAINED” (Lk6:40)
·
“Now
may the God of peace… …make you COMPLETE in every good work to do His
will…” (Heb13:20-21NKJV)
·
Paul
pleading with the Corinthians, “that you be PERFECTLY JOINED TOGETHER in the
same mind and in the same judgment.”
The word katartismos,
however, is used only one time… and specifically as:
“the exact adjustment which enables
the individual parts to
work together
in correct order.” (HelpsWordStudiesBibleHub)
That is why
when Paul uses it describing “the EQUIPPING of the saints
for the work of service” (Eph4:12NASB95), one would understand the picture he is describing of the completed
process of:
·
finding
the function of each individual bone,
·
preparing
it for its particular part,
·
Then
ALIGN them to perfectly join together in perfect, functioning order
Outside
Scripture the term could describe the setting of a bone, the outfitting of a
ship, or the supplying of an army… carrying with it the notion of restoring
something to proper condition and rendering it fully functional… competent…
ready… completely sound and whole in corporate strength.
Peter echoes
this idea in 1Pet5:8-10KJV, reminding the body of Christ to “resist steadfast
in the faith” the devil who is as a roaring lion, and that…
“the God of all grace…
…MAKE YOU PERFECT,
stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
…God, in His grace,
…makes THE ALIGNMENT.
