CONVERSATION

CONVERSATION

Have you ever just listened in on a conversation amongst friends or family?

It is so exuberant, full of life… the way it jumps back and forth between the individuals… each one adding a part in rapid succession… sometimes overlapping… but each allowing space to hear what each is saying… not really thinking, but just vibrantly sharing from the heart…… bouncing off what the others are saying… simply adding their part.

It almost appears as though you take a book of matches, light one… and every other one ignites… until each match is fully inflamed… fueling each other and engulfing the whole.

They care enough about the other person… not to listen to respond… but to HEAR AND UNDERSTAND what each person is saying.

Oxford Dictionary: CONVERSATION noun

1.      a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people,

in which news and ideas are exchanged.

Did you know that THIS WAS the culture of the “EKKLESIA” (the Greek word transliterated “church”)?

1Cor14:26NASB95 “…When you assemble, EACH ONE has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let ALL THINGS be done for edification.”

The whole concept behind an “EKKLESIA” was to gather all of the people together… with every individual having a voice… bringing their part… to reach a consensus on an impending action, a direction, or pertinent decision on a matter at hand.

The early “EKKLESIA” even met from house to house… around a meal… (Acts2:46)

…IT’S A CONVERSATION!

1Cor14 goes further to say that, “Two or three prophets should speak…” [someone speaking for God] “…the others should weigh carefully what is said.”

“And if a revelation comes to someone who is seated, THE FIRST SPEAKER SHOULD STOP.”

“For you can all prophesy in turn so that EVERYONE may be instructed and encouraged…” (1Cor14:29-33BSB)

…IT’S A CONVERSATION!

A person learns more when interactive than when lectured.

The practice of “LECTURE” didn't exist until the 13th century… due to lack of books and formal education.

AI Overview online calls it: “The "Sage on the Stage": Early lecture methods involved the teacher (often a member of the clergy) delivering information from a pulpit or raised position, emphasizing authority and passive listening.

However, 1Cor12:7-11 speaks about what happens when the Holy Spirit manifests Himself through each individual as He sees fit… by:

·         Word of wisdom

·         Word of knowledge

·         Faith

·         Gifts of healing

·         Working of miracles

·         Prophecy

·         Discerning of Spirits

·         Various tongues

·         Interpretation of tongues

TO PROFIT EVERYONE COLLECTIVELY!!!

Eph4:15-16NASB95 “according to the PROPER WORKING OF EACH INDIVIDUAL PART, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love”

It is not a MEETING…

                …nor a LECTURE…

…IT’S A CONVERSATION!
