WITHSTAND AND RESIST

 

 

“Submit to God.

RESIST the devil

and he will flee from you.” (Jas4:7NKJV)

 

 

Once we have placed yourself under obedient submission to the orderly arrangement of Christ [SUBMIT]

                  …THEN

                                    we RESIST the devil

                                                      and HE WILL FLEE. (run away, vanish, to flee)

 

 

I wonder if we really comprehend what it really means to RESIST?

 

RESIST is from the Greek word, ANTHISTEMI… a compound  of “antí” - opposite/against and “hístēmi” "to stand") –

According to Bible Hub Word Studies it means

·       to take a complete stand against, i.e. a "180 degree, contrary position";

·       to establish one's position publicly by conspicuously "holding one's ground,"

·       refusing to be moved ("pushed back").

·       "oppose fully" - to forcefully declare one's personal conviction (where they unswervingly stand);

·       a military term in classical Greek meaning "to strongly resist an opponent" ("take a firm stand against").

·       *to keep one's possession; 

·       ARDENTLY WITHSTAND, without giving up

 

1Pe5:8-9NKJV “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. RESIST HIM, steadfast in the faith…”

 

We stand in a place of victory, empowered by the Spirit of the Living God. And from that place we unswervingly oppose and ARDENTLY WITHSTAND the enemy coming to steal, kill, and destroy what we already have by Jesus Christ.

 

Again… Faith is not a decision,

…it is a PLACE from which decisions are made.  

 

It is a PLACE where you…

“WITHSTAND (ANTHISTEMI)

IN THE EVIL DAY,

and having done all,

TO STAND (HISTEMI - actively stand forth, establish).    

…STAND THEREFORE…!” 

(Eph6:10-18KJV) 

 


“For WHATSOEVER is born of God overcometh the world: and THIS IS THE VICTORY that overcometh the world, EVEN OUR FATIH” (1Jn5:4-5KJV) 

 

 

1Jn5:1AMP “Everyone who believes [with a deep, abiding trust in the fact] that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) IS BORN OF GOD [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose],”

 


YOU ARE BORN OF GOD… a son of God… from a kingdom not of this world…

…sent to represent THAT King in demonstration of the Spirit and power… and might. 

 


“For THIS PURPOSE the Son of God was manifested, that He might DESTROY the works of the devil” (1Jn3:8KJV)

 


He is still being manifested… His kingdom… His authority… His power… His might… 
His glory… His will… His purpose… THROUGH YOU! 

 


The intent of YOU being born and sent…

…was to OVERCOME the world

…RESIST

…WITHSTAND

…and destroy the works of the devil.

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
