FLAT SQUIRRELS

 

Throughout the Old Testament, Jewish law mandated that Leprosy and its subsequent disfigurement was an indication of “uncleanness” and sin… leading to ostracism from society and public life.

 

Since those afflicted with the disease were forced to live outside the city, they would historically band together in small groups, often surviving by whatever means they could.

 

2Kings 6:24-7:20 details an event where Syria besieged Samaria resulting in a great famine.

There were four leprous men at the entrance of the city gate.

They were in a great dilemma:

They were forbidden by strict law, upon penalty of death, from entering the city

They could go to the camp of the Syrians and be killed

They could stay where they were and starve

 

“and they said one to another, ‘WHY SIT WE HERE UNTIL WE DIE?’” (2Ki7:3KJV)

 

 

PASSIVITY is a constant CHOICE OF INDECISION that GIVES AWAY YOUR POWER…

…allowing circumstances and others to make the decision for you.

 

INDECISION is also something that can lead to "paralysis by analysis,"

…where overthinking prevents ANY action from being taken. 

You continually partake of “THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL”

attempting to figure out the ramifications of each choice

weighing out what is “right or wrong”… “naughty or nice”.

 

“but of THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL

you shall not eat,

for in the day that you eat of it

you shall surely die." (Gen2:17NKJV)

 

 

The lepers DECIDED to go into the Syrian camp, only to find that the Lord had made the enemy hear things that were not there…

…The Syrian Army, fleeing for their lives… left EVERYTHING behind….

                  …not only for the lepers

…but for all of Israel, as well

 

 

God is teaching us to operate BY THE TREE OF LIFE…

…BY FAITH (His perspective of LIFE)

            …BY “WHAT IS LIFE AND PEACE?”

 

 

You're not going to FEEL like a decision is right or wrong

Ever!

The FEELING you're waiting for doesn't exist.

                  You're not led by “FEELINGS”

 

 

Peter was walking on the water to Jesus, got his eyes on the surrounding storm and began to sink.

As Peter cried out, Jesus took him by the hand and immediately they were back in the boat.

Jesus said, “You of little faith… WHY DID YOU DOUBT?” (Mtt14:31NKJV)

            …Meaning,

“WHY DID YOU HALT BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS?”

 

 

BE DECISIVE.

 

“Right or Wrong...

MAKE A DECISION!.

The road of life is paved with

FLAT SQUIRRELS

who couldn't make

A DECISION.”

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
