CHANGE OF PRIESTHOOD


 


CHANGE OF PRIESTHOOD 

 

 

There are two types of priesthoods referred to in the scripture:

1.         The Levitical or Aaronic Priesthood

2.         The Melchizedek Priesthood

 

 

LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD

The Levitical Priesthood Set Up:

·       A high priest or senior priest

·       Under priests or assistants

·       A corporate or business structure for the physical temple operation

·       A hierarchal structure for sacrifices and ministry

·       A judicial structure for interpreting laws and keeping order

·       Established a distinction between clergy (priests) and laity (common folk)

 

 

The Old order of priesthood became an occupation for only an elite few.

It was their inheritance and heritage

 

 

“If the priesthood of Levi and Aaron, which provided the framework for the giving of the law, could really make people perfect, there wouldn’t have been need for a new priesthood like that of Melchizedek.

But since it didn’t get the job done,

THERE WAS A CHANGE OF PRIESTHOOD,

which brought with it a radical new kind of law.

There is no way of understanding this in terms of the old Levitical priesthood, which is why there is nothing in Jesus’ family tree connecting him with that priestly line.” (Heb7:11-14MSG)

 

The Old covenant priesthood of Aaron and the Levites established by the law was only a “shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” (Col2:17NKJV)

 

 

MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD

In Gen14:5-24. Abraham and servants trained in his own house had been victorious at war with the kings and was back at camp with all the spoils.  All the little kings and tribes camped around him to try to make friends and get some of the spoils for which Abraham had fought  

BUT… MELCHIZEDEK (King of Salem and priest of the God Most High) came for ONE REASON ONLY: TO BLESS ABRAHAM!

Abraham recognized MELCHIZEDEK was sent by the Lord… and gave MELCHIZEDEK “a tenth part” (tithe) OF ALL (Gen14:18-20;Heb7:2)

 

Christ is a Priest FOREVER after the order of MELCHIZEDEK. (Heb5:1-11; 6:20; 7:1-21; 4:14-15; Ps110:4)

 

And now… in Christ we are of that priesthood,

We are made kings and priests unto our God. (Rev1:6;5:10)

YOU are a holy and royal priesthood (1Pet2:5-9)

 

 

For some reason we are still running around in the old Aaronic Levitical Priesthood…

…establishing our gift, our calling, our election…

…getting people to support our vision, our purpose, our ministry…

 

“Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.” (Mk10:43)

 

 

As MELCHIZEDEK I am…

…sent to a person to bless THEM

·       “…so that I may share with YOU some spiritual gift,

to STRENGTHEN AND ESTABLISH YOU;” (Rom1:11AMP)

·       To equip YOU for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Eph4:12)

·       To bring YOU into the knowledge, fullness and stature of the Messiah (Eph4:13)

 

 

So… which priesthood are you of?

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
