THE MEASURE

 

In ancient Greek culture, the word "metron" was commonly used in various fields, including commerce, architecture, and philosophy, to denote a standard or unit of measurement as the controlling basis by which something is determined as acceptable or unacceptable… enough or not enough…  fair or not fair… etc.

The concept of "measure" was significant in Greek thought, often associated with balance, proportion, and moderation…  by implication, a determined certain portion (degree)… hence… 

…THE MEASURE.

 

The NASB version reiterates this idea very succinctly by stating in Mtt7:2, Mk4:24, and Lk6:38:

“…By your STANDARD OF MEASURE it will be MEASURED to you in return…”

[literal Greek: “for with that MEASURE you MEASURE it will be MEASURED again to you”]

…whether in judging others… forgiving…condemning… pardoning… giving…

…or hearing/ listening as in Mk4:24(AMP):

                  “And He said to them, ‘Be careful what you are hearing.

THE MEASURE [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear]

will be THE MEASURE [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you

-and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.’”

 

 

Eph4:7 “But to each one of us grace was given according to THE MEASURE of Christ's gift.”

 

And… what was THE MEASURE of Christ’s gift?

·       Abundant (Jn10:10)

·       Immeasurable and unsurpassed (Eph2:7)

·       Unfathomable, unsearchable, incomprehensible (Eph3:8)

 

 

We are being conformed into “THE MEASURE of the stature of the FULLNESS OF CHRIST;” (Eph4:13)

                  …THE TOTALITY OF WHO CHRIST IS…  IS THE MEASURE!

 

We are HIS BODY… “the FULLNESS of HIM  who FILLS ALL… IN ALL” (Eph1:23)

 

 

Rom12:3 “God hath dealt to every man THE MEASURE of faith.” (Rom12:3)…

                  …because “CHRIST lives IN me… the life which I now live in the flesh I live BY THE FAITH OF the Son of God” (Gal2:20)

 

 

In Mtt28:18-19 Jesus said, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. NOW, YOU GO!”…       

“…And In My name…

·       cast out demons;

·       speak with new tongues;

·       take up serpents;

·       If you drink anything deadly… it won't harm you;

·       lay hands on the sick, and they SHALL recover." (Mk16:17-18)

"…he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also;

and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (Jn14:12)

 

“For he whom God has sent

speaks the words of God

for God gives the Spirit

WITHOUT MEASURE unto him.” (Jn3:34)

 

 

WE HAVE CHRIST… THE FULLNESS… THE MEASURE!

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
