GIVE US A KING!

 

 

“GIVE US A KING to rule us like all the other nations.” (1Sam8:5)

 

Why do we want to be like everyone else?

We think it is only RIGHT to AT LEAST have THE SAME…

…ministry, success, honor, lifestyle… LIFE!

 

We even look at the world and think that maybe we should do things the same way they are doing it… THEN we'll be successful, prosperous, etc… and have an easier time doing it!

 

Why do we spend so much time “comparing ourselves among ourselves”?

                  Isn't that viewed as “unwise”? (2Cor10:12)

 

 

And yet YAHWEH states in Isa55:8:

"…My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,"

 

And no matter how many times we falter or think we finally “got it”…

He still desires to show us “a more excellent way.” (1Cor12:31)

…“a new and living way” (Heb10:20)

 

 

Israel had been delivered from a tyrant in Egypt…

They wandered… complaining… for 40 years…

When they entered the promised land, YAHWEH destroyed seven nations and gave the land to HIS people… then set men who would discern and evaluate situations, judging matters at hand … with YAHWEH as THE KING… the leader… for a period of 450 years! (Acts13:17-20)

 

AFTER ALL THAT the elders of Israel came to Samuel and demanded a king. (1Sam8:5)

They rejected THE CULTURE of THE KINGDOM OF GOD in exchange for THE CULTURE and ways of other nations.

The LORD told Samuel, "Do what the people tell you... They have rejected me. They don't want me to be their king.” (1Sam8:5,7)

 

 

Jesus Christ is THE KING OF KINGS (Rev19:11,16)

 

And HE has made us KINGS AND PRIESTS unto God (Rev1:6;5:10)

…a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD (1Pet2:9)

                                    Not after the order of Levi nor Aaron…

                                    There has been a change of priesthood (Heb7:12)

                                    We are OF CHRIST

                                    And as such, we are priests forever after the order of Melchizedek (Heb7:11-28)

 

 

“Who has so easily bewitched us” to come back under the old priesthood, the old law, the old way, the old rule…

 “Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?” (Gal3:1-3)

 

People today are still crying: “GIVE US A KING like all other nations”

                  They want a leader… a shepherd… someone to guide them…

                  …Someone to hear from God and tell them what He says (Ex20:18-21)

 

                                    [All of which validates MY CALLING and MY MINISTRY…

                                                      …If I am becoming that king.]

 

 

HMMMMM… then what we need to ask ourselves is:

                  Are we building a CULTURE where the people are dependent upon us…

                                    Or are we building a CULTURE of kings and priests unto God?

                  Are we fulfilling OUR ministry…

                                    Or are we helping sons of God realize and fulfill who THEY are? (Eph4:11-24)

                  Are we bearing fruit of the CULTURE OF THE KINGDOM

                                    Or fruit of the CULTURE OF THE CHURCH?

 

                 

Hos8:4 “They SET UP KINGS, but not by Me;

They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them...”

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
