CLOAKING THE HEART

 

 

Remember “Star Trek” the TV show?

There were two main starships the USS Enterprise frequently encountered and violently battled… The Romulans and the Klingons.

These two warrior races were arch nemesis with the Federation and shared a common goal of destroying the Enterprise, as well as bringing the entire Federation to its knees. Their ships were equipped with a “CLOAKING DEVICE”, which, when activated would cause the vessel to become invisible. This technology was a major advantage, allowing them to hide, deceive, and confuse… becoming undetectable at will.

 

 

"THE HEART is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jer17:9)

The Hebrew word translated “deceitful” is used to describe something deceitful or crooked… conveying the idea of being morally twisted or not straightforward.

 

 

One of the first things mankind does in the Bible is demonstrate this inherent nature…

                  Adam and Eve, after having disobeyed God, “HID THEMSELVES” (Gen3:8)

 

 

God poses an interesting question in Mal2:10: “Why do you DEAL TREACHEROUSLY with one another…?

 

The word translated “DEAL TREACHEROUSLY” is a primitive word picture depicting covering or CLOAKING with a garment [figuratively, to act covertly], hiding oneself in a DECEITFUL fashion so as not to be discovered.

 

 

It goes on to say in Mal2:13-16…

"This is another thing you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears,

with weeping and with groaning, because He no longer regards the offering

or accepts it with favor from your hand.

WHY?

Because you have

 DEALT TREACHEROUSLY WITH THE WIFE OF YOUR YOUTH.

“Yet she is your companion and your wife by covenant.

Therefore, take heed to your spirit, and let none deal DEAL TREACHEROUSLY

with the wife of his youth.

"For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce…”

 

 

It’s a process… we begin to hide a little bit here… not tell the complete story there… not intending to COMPLETELY deceive… but not quite letting all the hidden things we desire to keep in darkness be brought to the light… divorcing ourselves further and further from the truth…

…and from the ones with whom we are to actively and openly engage in life.

 

We employ a CLOAKING DEVICE over our HEART to hide the center of our intentions… believing our thoughts and motives invisible… and somehow undiscoverable.

                  We have forgotten that we are to be ONE… not only in flesh (Mtt19:4-6)

                  …but in spirit and HEART, as well. (Mal2:15;Jn17:21)

 

 

Mal 2:16 “Therefore, take heed to your spirit…

that you do not DEAL TREACHEROUSLY."

THE DAILY LOAD

  THE DAILY LOAD   “Blessed be the Lord Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah” (Ps68:19)   The word, “selah” is used throughout the Psalms and other Hebrew music and poetry as a notation similar to “a rest” in our modern music. The Perfect Will of God

  The Perfect Will of God   Rom12:2  “…Do not be CONFORMED to this WORLD , but be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of your MIND , that you may PROVE WHAT IS that GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT WILL OF GOD .”   I was always taught that there were three different WILLS of God… And you are placed in one WILL or another determined by your maturity level, your faith, and your closeness to God.   However… let's dissect this verse to clearly see the intent behind each part.   ·        CONFORMED – properly means: assuming a similar  outward  form (expression) by following the same  pattern  (model, mold). ·        WORLD - properly, an  age  ( era , "time-span"),  characterized by a specific quality  (type) of existence ·        TRANSFORMED - metamorphóō - changing form or shape in keeping with a transformed inner reality...
