The Perfect Will of God

The Perfect Will of God

Rom12:2  “…Do not be CONFORMED to this WORLD,

but be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of your MIND,

that you may PROVE

WHAT IS that

GOOD

and ACCEPTABLE

and PERFECT

WILL OF GOD.”

I was always taught that there were three different WILLS of God…

And you are placed in one WILL or another determined by your maturity level, your faith, and your closeness to God.

However… let's dissect this verse to clearly see the intent behind each part.

·       CONFORMEDproperly means: assuming a similar outward form (expression) by following the same pattern (model, mold).

·       WORLD - properly, an age (era, "time-span"), characterized by a specific quality (type) of existence

·       TRANSFORMED - metamorphóō - changing form or shape in keeping with a transformed inner reality after being with something or someone

·       RENEWING - making fresh or new by completing a process.

·       MIND - the God-given capacity of each person to think (reason)

·       PROVE - properly, to try (test) to show something is acceptable (real, approved)

·       WHAT IS - The Greek word "τίς" is used to ask questions about identity, nature, or reason. It is often used in the New Testament to inquire about people, objects, or REASONS BEHIND ACTIONS.

·       GOOD - inherently (intrinsically) good, originating from God, empowered by Him in their life.

·       ACCEPTABLE - properly, well-pleasing (gratifying) because fully acceptable.

·       PERFECT – mature from going through the necessary stages to reach the end-goal

[This root is well-illustrated with the old pirate's telescope, unfolding (extending out) one stage at a time to function at full-strength (capacity effectiveness).]

·       WILL - properly, a desired wish; often referring to God's "best-offer"

NOW…

Reassemble all of these puzzle pieces to get the full picture being conveyed in this verse.

“Do not apply to yourself the same outward form of the culture or society and time in which you live…

Rather… let your way of thinking be transfigured by being in the presence of God,

…causing a metamorphosis

…forming you from glory to glory, strength to strength, and faith to faith

…from who you thought you were

… into revealing and proving His great pleasure…

…as the end result of what He has always seen for your life

…the mature reality of your true origin

…fully functioning as He is

…in this world.”
