REVIVAL… Can These Bones Live?

 

“REVIVAL” is often seen as a series of back-to-back meetings intended to re-energize a currently, dead or useless group, stirring them out of their complacency into a functional body with new strength, vigor, and life.  

 

Historically, our feeble attempts at this have been short-lived, resulting in the “body” returning back to its former state soon after the artificial life support system has been removed.

 

Prov14:12;16:25 “There is a WAY that seems right to a man, But its end is the WAY of death.”



 “My WAYS are not your WAYS” (Isa56:8)



EZEKIEL 37 describes YAHWEH’S WAY of REVIVAL

 

He takes Ezekiel in spirit to a valley littered with very dry bones… all cut off… without hope… and asks a very poignant question:

                  “Son of Man (According to Earthly ways as a man… and your finite thinking)

…Can these bones live?”

 

Ezekiel answers, “YAHWEH ADONAI, YOU KNOW.”

 

Yahweh, then proceeds to unveil HIS STRATEGY of how to make A PEOPLE live again.

 

1.        PROPHESY TO THE BONES

·      The bones came together

bone to each his bone… where each fit in connection to another bone

·      Sinew came upon them

to make the bones into a functioning joint

 joined and knit together by what EVERY JOINT SUPPLIES, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Eph4:15-16)

·      Flesh came upon them

forming them into an actual body…

“…holding fast to the head [of the body, Jesus Christ], from whom the entire body, supplied and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows with the growth [that can come only] from God.” (Col2:19AMP)

 

2.        PROPHESY TO THE BREATH

·      So I prophesied as I was commanded…

'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live." (Eze37:9)

·      “Breath came into them, and they lived…”

·      “…and stood upon their feet,

an exceedingly great army.” (Eze37:10)

 


NOTE: He does not breathe life until AFTER each bone is compacted together to the bone(s) with which they are to function… it is the JOINT that supplies to the body (Eph4:16)


 

It is NOT a special meeting to hype a group of bones out of the valley of despair.

 

HIS STRATEGY: out of scattered, dried bones, knit functional joints, where the bones FIT, forming a body He may breathe life into, to stand… and remain standing… as a mighty, effectual army!

 

CAN THESE BONES LIVE?

YES, LORD… YOUR WAY!

CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”.
