A Son Is Given

A SON IS GIVEN

Isa9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…”

I have often wondered why God showed the Prophet Isaiah this distinct double statement.

The Hebrew word translated “child” and its Greek counterpart refers to something born… often conveying a sense of innocence, dependency, and the need for nurturing and training.

It seems like everyone is excited when a child is born… produced… unveiled to the world… new life has started!

Gal4:1NKJV “…the heir, as long AS LONG AS HE IS A CHILD, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all…”

But now the work begins.

…a process of growth, training, and development

Lk2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Jn3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He GAVE His only begotten SON…”

The Hebrew word translated “son” is “Ben”… Simply defined: “builder of the family name”

The coinciding Septuagint (Greek) word in Isa9:6, as well as Jn3:16 is “huios” – a fully mature, trained son sharing the same nature (and purpose) as their Father.

NOTE: a child is born… but it is a Father’s pleasure to GIVE a son to accomplish HIS work.

“Although He was a Son… He learned obedience through what He suffered...” (Heb5:8) …In order that He, as Prince of Peace, would bear the government of His Father’s Kingdom upon his shoulders. (Isa9:6-7)

We are born again… a new creature… and then the formation process begins.

You are HIS workmanship created unto good works (Eph2:10)

HE works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure (Phi2:13)

HE began this work in you, HE will also complete it (Phi1:6)

HE predestinated you to be conformed into the image of HIS SON (Rom8:29)

Resulting in a son which shall:

·       Overcome and inherit all things (Rev21:7)

·       rule and reign in life as one in Christ Jesus (Rom5:17)

·       be given all things pertaining to life and godliness (2Pet1:3)

·       do the works of his Father (Jn5:19;14:12)

·       speak only the words of his Father (Jn8:28,38;12:49-50)

·       be given the Spirit without measure (Jn3:34)

·       be thoroughly equipped unto every good work (2Tim3:17)

You are no longer a child… nor a slave… but a son…

…and as a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Gal4:1-7)

Jn20:21 “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
