Behind The Curtain
BEHIND THE CURTAIN
The thing about any cult is that they don’t blatantly say, “Come join us… we’re a cult!”
A lot of them appear innocuous and relatively “normal”, but over time morph into the beast they are… based around the ideas, doctrines, and personality of one man.
Oft times when that man accepts you, that means that God accepts you.
If that man rejects or ignores you… God has turned His face from you, as well.
A constant struggle ensues to remain in that person’s good graces or risk being cut off… from that person… from God, friends, and the community of which you are now a part.
· If you disagree with any of the revelation being taught…
you are disgraced and shunned.
· If you even question the “one in authority”…
you are disgraced and shunned.
· If your attitude isn’t one of “submission”…
you are disgraced and shunned.
The motivating factor has now become the FEAR OF DEATH
…of relationships, business, finances, fellowship, or life as you know it.
FEAR CONTROLS
BUT… Jesus Christ came to “deliver them who through FEAR OF DEATH were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Heb2:15)
2Cor3:17 “…where the Spirit of the Lord is, THERE IS LIBERTY.”
Jn8:32 “…you shall know THE TRUTH, and THE TRUTH shall MAKE YOU FREE."
In a cult THE TRUTH comes solely through the leader by “revelation”, which remains in flux… constantly changing… keeping you blindly feeling after a goal line at which you will never arrive.
You are told, “it is spiritually discerned” to keep you believing they have something you don't, and you must come to them to get it.
You have become trapped through condemnation and intimidation in a never-ending cycle of performance, working for something which can never be achieved.
Even after escaping a cult, it sometimes takes years before the fog lifts… the curtain pulls back, and with clarity you finally see the little wizard who has been controlling Oz from the comfort and protection of his hiding place.
The “Good News” is that GOD CHOSE YOU! (Jn15:16)
Eph2:13 “…NOW in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
