In His Own Eyes


 


IN HIS OWN EYES

 

Prov12:15 “The way of a fool is right IN HIS OWN EYES: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise.”

 

Wisdom is illusive to a lot of people. They genuinely think they know it all… refusing to listen to anyone… believing they, alone, have received THE download from the Almighty, Himself.

 

DISCIPLE = DISCIPLINED LEARNER

 

Pr26:12AMP “Do you see a man [who is unteachable and] wise IN HIS OWN EYES and full of self-conceit? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”

 

 Rom12:3AMPC “…I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance]”

 

1Cor8:1AMP “…Knowledge [alone] makes [people self-righteously] arrogant, but love [that unselfishly seeks the best for others] builds up and encourages others to grow [in wisdom].”

 

Pr16:2AMPC “All the ways of a man are clean [literally: pure, unmixed, free from foreign substances] IN HIS OWN EYES; but the Lord weighs the spirits.”

 

Rom10:21AMPC “All day long I have stretched out My hands to an unyielding, disobedient, self-willed, faultfinding, contrary, and contradicting people.”

 

In Titus1:9, Paul refers to them as “Gainsayers”: - voicing opposition; to contradict, especially in a hostile (argumentative) way – i.e. to dispute in order to thwart.

… and he encourages Titus to “exhort and convince them by sound doctrine.”

 

Eze3:7 “But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted.”

 

Gal6:3AMP “…if anyone thinks he is something [special] when [in fact] he is nothing [special except IN HIS OWN EYES], he deceives himself.”

 

BUT…

A disciplined learner of Jesus Christ, having the Spirit of wisdom and understanding… in HIS knowledge (Eph1:17)…

·      fears God and departs from evil (Pr14:16);

·      is silent (Pr17:28);

·      hearkens to counsel (Pr12:15);

·      hears and increases in learning (Pr1:5);

·      seeks knowledge (Pr18:15);

·      receives instruction (Pr21:11); and stores it up (Pr10:14);

·      hearkens to reproof, which gives life (Pr15:31);

 

REMAIN TEACHABLE…

…NOT WISE IN YOUR OWN EYES

 

Pr9:8-9 “Give instruction to a wise man… and he will become even wiser… teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.”

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
