Which Is Easier To Say?
WHICH IS EASIER TO SAY?
There is a story in Lk5:17-25, Mtt9:2-8 and Mk2:1-12; about the paraplegic whose friends let him down through the ceiling where Jesus was teaching.
Lk5:20 “When He saw THEIR faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."
This upset the religious folk. They were “ok” with a little healing…
But to forgive sins???!!!???
Jesus, knowing what they were thinking, said, “Why are you questioning [these things] in your hearts?
Which is easier, to say,
'Your sins are forgiven you,'
or to say,
'Rise up and walk’?
So that YOU KNOW The Son of Man has authority on Earth to forgive sins…
I SAY take up your bed and walk!” (Lk5:22-24)
WAIT… WHAAAAT?
In the The Kingdom of God… Sin… Sickness… Disease… there is no difference…
He came “…to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” (Lk4:18)
1Jn3:8 “The Son of God appeared for this purpose: to destroy the works of the devil.”
Under the Old Covenant, “…the curse causeless shall not come.” (Pr26:2)
In other words, if you were sick, diseased, or something evil befell you… it was because YOU sinned… YOU DID SOMETHING!
But Christ was made a curse for us. (Gal3:13)
It pleased God to PUT ALL OUR sin, iniquity, sickness, pain, and disease upon Jesus Christ. (Isa53:4-11)
Jas5:15 “And the prayer of faith SHALL save [sozo] the sick, and the Lord SHALL raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he SHALL be forgiven.”
It is all lumped under “SAVED” [sozo- healed, delivered, set free, get on well, prospered, MADE WHOLE]!
Rom10:9 “…if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED!”
Eph2:8-9 “…BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED”
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he SAVED us” (Titus3:5)
In the New Covenant life AFTER THE CROSS… you are not still sick and diseased because you have unrepentant sin… nor anything you have or haven't done.
YOU ARE SOZO - free, healed, delivered, righteous, and holy and whole…
ONLY BECAUSE CHRIST DID SOMETHING!
