DRAW NIGH

 

Jas4:8 “DRAW NIGH to God, and HE will DRAW NIGH to you…”

 

We often read or hear the Word of God with a veil over our hearts, understanding the scripture through the filter of performance of the Old Covenant. 

 

Religion has kept us bound in chains of the law where “I must do this or that, IN ORDER TO be blessed, healed, delivered, or… just be close to Him.”

 

The phrase “DRAW NIGH” is one Greek word, “eggízō” – properly, has drawn close (come near). Itoccurs 14 times in the Greek perfect tense (indicative mood) in the NT which expresses "extreme closeness, immediate imminence – even a presence ('It is here') …because the moment of this coming already happened. 

 

“And” is the most common NT conjunction, used over 9,000 times.  

It is translated “and (also), very often, moreover, even, indeed”…

the context-determines the exact sense. 

It ties thoughts or concepts together giving the mood of the two being “commanded, completely necessary, very important… something completely unavoidable”.

 

The intent of this verse was never to get YOU to do something BEFORE God moves. 

 

We do it BECAUSE…

HE ALREADY DID!

 

Eph2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off ARE MADE NIGH by the blood of Christ.”

 

 

The whole context of James' letter speaks directly to attempting religiously to follow God outwardly… 

while really needing our minds renewed to what OUR FATHER already accomplished through Christ. 

 

 

 

Jas4:7 says, “submit to God...” (find and get into HIS orderly arrangement and fashion)

…Then resist the devil and he will flee. 

 

 

THEN 4:8 follows literally with, "It is imperative to be at hand to God... He was imminently at hand… has drawn extremely near…

 to you..."

“So, wash your hands you who are missing the mark…

it's time to get all the dust and filth of YOUR labor off...

and have purified hearts... 

not allowing doubt and double mindedness to taint you. 

 

 

1Cor3:16 “Don’t you know you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells IN YOU?”

 

 

SO…

 

 

If HE dwells IN YOU by His Holy Spirit…

 

 

How much more “NIGH” can you get?

  THE DAILY LOAD   “Blessed be the Lord Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah” (Ps68:19)   The word, “selah” is used throughout the Psalms and other Hebrew music and poetry as a notation similar to “a rest” in our modern music. The Perfect Will of God
