ASTROPHE

Image
ASTROPHE   Do you know what “astrophe” means? Me neither... until a few nights ago when I heard it in a dream.   I tried looking it up my normal Greek and English dictionaries, but without success. Everything kept referring me to “apostrophe”.   UGH!.   Finally, I found it! …in an article about Greek Theater, Poetry, and Psalms… And in a YouTube video.   The Psalms - as well as a lot of Greek plays - were written in prose form... or in song. Each section or “phrase” of the song has a certain mood, tone, or message... with a specific motion, movement, or “dance” associated to it... directing the “chorus” or singers to turn [strophe] and move across the stage.    As that idea or concept continues… the direction of movement or dance DOES NOT CHANGE ... physically emphasizing the spoken word...   THAT’S ASTROPHE – no turning.   “…and God said, ‘Let there be light!’ … AND THERE WAS! ” (Gen1:3) …from then on!   In HIM “there is NO VARI...

Which Is Easier To Say?

Image
WHICH IS EASIER TO SAY?   There is a story in Lk5:17-25, Mtt9:2-8 and Mk2:1-12; about the paraplegic whose friends let him down through the ceiling where Jesus was teaching.    Lk5:20 “When He saw  THEIR  faith, He said to  him , "Man, your sins are forgiven you."   This upset the religious folk. They were “ok” with a little healing… But to forgive sins???!!!???   Jesus, knowing what they were thinking, said, “Why are you questioning [these things] in your hearts? Which is easier, to say,  'Your sins are forgiven you,'  or to say,  'Rise up and walk’? So that  YOU KNOW  The Son of Man has authority on Earth  to forgive sins …   I SAY   take up your bed and walk!”  (Lk5:22-24)   WAIT… WHAAAAT? In the The Kingdom of God… Sin… Sickness… Disease… there is no difference…  He came “…to set at liberty those who are  oppressed .”   (Lk4:18) 1Jn3:8 “The Son of God appeared for this pur...

THE PRAYER OF FAITH

Image
THE PRAYER OF FAITH   Jas5:13-16  “Is anyone among you suffering? …Let him  PRAY.  Is anyone cheerful? …Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? …Let him call for the elders of the church;  and let them  PRAY  over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:  And  THE PRAYER OF FAITH   shall  save the sick,  and the Lord  shall  raise him up;”     The word translated  “PRAY”  is  proseuchomai”,  which means  “an intimate communication with God, exchanging your wishes, desires, and perspective for HIS”  so you now speak from HIS perspective… declare HIS kingdom come and HIS will be done right here on THIS EARTH just like it is in Heaven!   So… Are you suffering? Have  “an intimate communication with God, exchanging your wishes, desires, and perspective for HIS”  and DECLARE THAT Are any of you sick?   Call for the elders and let them ha...

DRAW NIGH

Image
DRAW NIGH   Jas4:8 “ DRAW NIGH  to God, and HE will  DRAW NIGH  to you…”   We often read or hear the Word of God with a veil over our hearts, understanding the scripture through the filter of performance of the Old Covenant.    Religion has kept us bound in chains of the law where “I must do this or that, IN ORDER TO be blessed, healed, delivered, or… just be close to Him.”   The phrase  “DRAW NIGH”  is one Greek word,  “ eggízō ”  – properly,   has drawn close   ( come near ).  It occurs 14 times   in the Greek perfect tense   (indicative mood) in the NT which expresses "extreme   closeness , immediate imminence – even a   presence   ('It is here') … because the moment of this coming already happened.    “And”  is the most common NT conjunction, used over 9,000 times.   It is translated “ and   ( also ), very often,   moreover ,   even , ...

The Knowledge Of The Son Of God

Image
The Knowledge of The Son of God     Eph4:13 “Till we all come in the unity of the faith,  and  OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SON OF GOD unto a perfect man, unto the measure  OF  the stature  OF  the fulness  OF  Christ:     The article or preposition,  “OF”  in the above cases is a Genitive/ Imperative part of speech. The   genitive case   expresses possession: "my hat" or "Harry's house.   “Imperative” would imply the mood of a demand or command.     Back to Eph4:13 “Son of God” = God’s son… LITERALLY… “IT’S IMPERATIVE WE HAVE GOD’S SON’S KNOWLEDGE.” …see it the way HE sees it! …know what HE knows about it! …and together believe what HE believes about it! Then we possess in full measure  CHRIST’S FULL STATURE.   2Pet1:3 “…his divine power has given us all things pertaining unto life and godliness,  THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM  that has called us to glory and virtue.” ...

I Think... I Feel... I Believe

Image
I Think… I Feel… I Believe…   Early in the process of Christ being formed  IN  a son of God, the terms,  “I THINK… I FEEL… I BELIEVE…”  are removed from the vocabulary.    In whose name am I coming if I say, “ I   think…   I   feel…  or  I   believe… ”?   Who wants to know what  “ I  BELIEVE”  anyway?   Jn7:18 “He that speaks of himself  seeks his own glory:  but he that seeks his glory that sent him,  the same is true,  and no unrighteousness is in him.”   Jn5:31 “If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true” Why qualify what we say to make it more palatable to the hearer? Why are we so  self -conscious that we must assure others  we  heard from God? We have reduced the Word of God to a mingled seed of mere opinion and self affirmation lacking the power to transform lives into the fulness of Christ.    Just speak as sons… Words of spi...

THE GLORY OF GOD

Image
THE GLORY OF GOD   “ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD”  (Rom3:23)     Since the first word of this particular verse is  " ALL "… …and this particular Greek word means:   every individual part that applies… …not the totality of the whole…   Let’s take a look at one piece at a time of Rom3:23 to see if we can get a clearer understanding of the total picture.        “HAVE SINNED”   hamartánō  - properly, having no share in; to  sin , which always brings  forfeiture .  It is regularly used in ancient literature of an archer missing the target.    Perhaps from  a  (as a negative particle) and the base of  meros ; properly, to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize).      Every decision (action) done apart from faith is  SIN  (Rom14:23; Heb11:6).      “COME SHORT” hysteréō  ("failing to fulfill a goal") means t...
