HOW DO I KNOW? part 1
HOW DO I KNOW? part 1
Gen15:1NASB “After these things the WORD of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, SAYING, “Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.”
Often, we see a vision… hear a Word… Dream a dream… somehow sense that the Lord is telling us to do something… go somewhere… or just be who He is showing us “I AM”.
BUT… we are not sure if we even really heard HIS voice.
Even though Abram had just “believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” (Gen15:6), in the very next verse God tells him ALL he will inherit!
Like us, Abram was unsure if what he heard Yahweh saying was TRUE.
He turns around and asks,
“Lord God, HOW DO I KNOW…?” (Gen15:8)
God tells him to take a heifer, a ram, and a female goat… each three years old…
a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
“And he took all these,
and divided them in the midst,
and laid each piece one against another:
but the birds divided he not.”
“And when the fowls came down upon the carcases,
Abram drove them away.” (Gen15:9-11)
This is what Jesus explainedin a parable where the birds, representing Satan, come immediately to steal the WORD that was sown along the way (Mtt13:19;Mk4:15)
At that point… we must drive away anything attempting to steal that SEED… THE WORD GIVEN TO US
And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.” (Gen15:12)
Job33:14-18
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men,
in slumberings upon the bed;
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
While Abram sleeps, Father/God seals Abram’s instructions, outlining how he shall inherit what was promised. (Gen15:13-16)
THEN…
Gen15:17 “And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold
- a smoking furnace (a fire-pot, oven, furnace),
- and a burning lamp (torch, lamp, to shine light)
…passed between those pieces.”
Mtt18:16 “…in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”
Heb6:13-14AMPC
“For when God made [His] promise to Abraham, He swore by Himself, since He had no one greater by whom to swear,
Saying, Blessing I certainly will bless you and multiplying I will multiply you.”
1Jn5:7AMPC
So there are three witnesses in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are One;
SO… Our Father shows up and with two things to pass between those pieces to establish what is TRUTH, PEACE, AND LIFE..
…to seal the covenant in us… (Gen15:18-21)
THE WORD AND THE SPIRIT
