Have You RECEIVED?

HAVE YOU RECEIVED?

“Have you RECEIVED… …since you believed?”

Although Acts19:2 specifically asks this about the Holy Ghost, there are so many exceeding great and precious promises God has guaranteed (2Pet1:4), which – for some reason or another – we seem to not be partakers.

WHY?

When do you get actually possess and partake in a gift?

When you RECEIVE it!

re·ceive: - to take into one's possession something offered or delivered

Collin's Dictionary: - 1. to take or get (something given, offered, sent, etc.); acquire or accept · 2. to encounter; experience

Merriam Webster defines it as:  to come into possession of : ACQUIRE

Jn14:17AMPC

The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot RECEIVE (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.

Jn20:22

And when He said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “RECEIVE the Holy Spirit.

Acts8:14-17 “Peter and John… prayed for them that they might RECEIVE the Holy Spirit…Then they laid hands on them, and they RECEIVED the Holy Spirit.”

Mk11:24

“…whatever things you ask when you pray,

believe that you RECEIVE them,

and you will have them.”

The Greek word translated RECEIVE above is lambánō - from the primitive root, lab-, meaning "actively lay hold of to take or receive," – properly, to lay hold by aggressively (actively) accepting what is available (offered).

Definition: to take, receive
Usage: (a) I receive, get, (b) I take, lay hold of.

So…

You experience the promise or gift once you actively or aggressively accept,RECEIVE”, or possess what was offered or given.

You finally believe it is wholly yours!

             …and act accordingly.

“According as His divine power

HAS GIVEN

to us

ALL THINGS

that pertain to life

and godliness,

through the knowledge of Him

who called us by glory and virtue,

by which…

HAVE BEEN GIVEN

to us

exceedingly great and precious promises,

that through these

you may be partakers of the divine nature,

having escaped the corruption

that is in the world through lust.” (2Pet1:3-4)
