DEFEATING DOUBT

DEFEATING DOUBT

We may not think we have an issue with doubt,

But why don’t mountains move when we speak?

Christ explains this KINGDOM process to the disciples:

why the fig tree withered…

and ultimately how all things were created…

HAVE GOD FAITH” (literal translation Mk 11:22)

[How does THAT faith work?]

“…whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;

AND SHALL NOT DOUBT IN HIS HEART,

but shall believe that those things which HE SAITH shall come to pass;

he shall have whatsoever he SAITH.

What things soever ye DESIRE,

when ye pray,

believe that ye receive them,

and ye shall have them” (Mk11:23-24)

“DESIRE” – Greek “aiteo”… strictly a demand for something due.

 aiteo” is also translated “ask”.

Other words translated “ask” mean:  to beg… request… inquire… get permission, or ask as a favor.

But EVERY TIME Christ tells His disciples to “ask” (ie and it shall be given)…

He uses this specific word “aiteo”…

The word picture behind it:

It is already in your account and you simply demand what is due…

make a withdrawal!

James1:5-8 explains the same principle:

“If any of you lack wisdom… let him ask (aiteo)

in faith

NOTHING WAVERING.”

“For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea,

wind driven and tossed.

…let not that man think he shall receive anything of the Lord.

double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

WAVERING is the SAME WORD translated doubt in Mk11:24

It means:  to withdraw, hesitate with divided judgement

Used in Rom 4:19-21 as:  “(Abraham) STAGGERED’ not at the promise of God through unbelief…”

He considered nothing else…

BUT…

1.     was strong in faith

2.     giving glory to God…

3.     being fully persuaded

4.     that what HE promised, HE was able to perform.

His key:  RELATIONSHIP!

Abraham… “FRIEND of God” (Jas2:23)

“That I might know… and be known of Him…” (Phil3:10;1Cor8:3)

“Henceforth I call you not servants…

but I have called you friends;

for ALL things that I have heard of my Father

I have made known unto you”. (Jn15:15)

SPEAK TO THAT MOUNTAIN!!!
