Bridling The Tongue
BRIDLING THE TONGUE
Pr4:20-23
My son, attend to my words;
incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from your eyes;
keep them in the midst of your heart.
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Pr21:23
Whoso keepeth (guard, keep watch, preserve) his mouth and his tongue keepeth (guard, keep watch, preserve) his soul from troubles.
Ps39:1–3 “I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue:
I will keep my mouth with a bridle…
While the wicked is before me…
…My heart was hot within me,
while I was musing the fire burned:
then spake I with my tongue,”
Sometimes, after we encounter something - even from the Lord -
We go out in bitterness and “the heat of OUR OWN SPIRIT (wind, motive – to breathe hard through nostrils with anger – temper) (Eze3:14)
EVEN THOUGH WE WERE SENT BY OUR FATHER!
And HE will cause us to sit down by the captives until 7 times pass over us…
Until we enter again into HIS REST
THEN He will tell us NOW GO
“hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning
FROM ME.” (Eze3:15-17)
Jas1:26
“If anyone among you thinks he is religious,
and does not bridle his tongue
but deceives his own heart,
this one's religion is useless.”
Jas3:2–12 “If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
“Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body…
…Even so the tongue…”
Eph4:29
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying,
that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Col4:6. “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.”
Proverbs 21:2,1
“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water;
HE TURNS IT wherever He wishes.”
Ps32:9,8
“DO NOT BE LIKE the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which MUST BE harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
· I WILL instruct you
· (I WILL) teach you in the way you should go;
· I WILL GUIDE YOU WITH MY EYE.”
