Be Still And Know

BE STILL AND KNOW

Ps46:10

BE STILL

AND KNOW

·       THAT I AM GOD

·       I WILL BE EXALTED…

…among the heathen,

·       I WILL BE EXALTED…

…in the earth.”

BE STILL” - raphah

Let yourself Sink;

Relax;

Let everything alone;

Let go of your rigidity and need for control;

Do nothing;

Allow yourself to be weak and feeble…

…throwing off all pretenses of strength.

It is more than just being quiet and still…

IT IS COMPLETE SURRENDER!

…AND KNOW”- yada

 "to have intimate knowledge."

      [NOTE: "yada" is the same word used in Gen4:1 "Adam knew Eve and she conceived"]

In the narrative of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42

“Martha RECEIVED him (Jesus) into HER HOUSE.”

The word “received” means:  “to welcome or receive someone (something) AS UNDER

Mary, however, sat down near to Jesus’ feet “and heard His Word”.

vs40 “But Martha was cumbered

[drawn away, distracted, driven, over-occupied, troubled]

about much serving…

and said, Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me.”

Vs41 Jesus replied,

“Martha, Martha,

·       you are careful

["to go to pieces" because pulled apart (in different directions)]

·       and troubled

[striken with panic, agitated, greatly disturbed,making a noisy tumultuous upheaval]

about many things”

BUT ONE THING IS NEEDFUL: and Mary has CHOSEN that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

What was needful?

BE STILL AND KNOW

Ezekiel 1 describes a magnificent vision of Living Creatures that move wherever the Spirit of God is to go. Each of these creatures has 4 wings and the sound when they move is like “the noise of great waters… as the voice of The Almighty… the tumultuous noise of a great multitude” (vs24).

But it goes on to say, “…when they stood, THEY LET DOWN THEIR WINGS.”

Translated from:  “raphah” – “BE STILL

“And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads,

WHEN THEY STOOD,

AND HAD LET DOWN THEIR WINGS(raphah)” (Eze1:25)

When we get to the place of stillness and rest…

…stopping all our movement with all the noise…

THEN

We can hear the still small voice (1Ki19:12)

Isa30:21

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,

This is the way, walk in it…”

BE STILL AND KNOW…
