The Sent Word
THE SENT WORD
“He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” (Ps107:20)
There are two main Greek words translated “word” in the Bible:
1. RHEMA – “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of God.” (Rom10:17)
It means: to utter, or simply open the mouth.
2. LOGOS - “ In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God.” (Jn1:1)
I was always taught that this “WORD” was the Bible… or written scripture.
BUT… It does not mean to write.
LOGOS means: A spoken discourse…
…INCLUDING:
THE VERY THOUGHT, INTENT, PURPOSE AND MOTIVE BEHIND WHAT IS SPOKEN
THAT was what was there from the beginning…
THAT “was made flesh and dwelt among us… the only begotten of the Father.” (Jn1:14)
Christ is the very thought, intent, purpose and motive behind everything the Father does…
…THAT is why He could say, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father”. (Jn14:9-11)
He is the “express image” (Greek “charakter”) of the Father (Heb1:3)
In the Septuagint (Greek Old Testament) Psalm 107:20 starts, “Apostello ho logos”…
“HE SENT HIS LOGOS!”
… AND HEALED US!
…and Delivered us from our destructions!
[Delivered: To rush or flow as a current to rescue or deliver FOR ONE’S SELF!]
Yahweh, God doesn’t have a RHEMA (utterance) without LOGOS (thought, intent, purpose, motive) BEHIND IT!
“So will my WORD (rhema) be that goes out of my mouth:
it shall not return to me empty…
without accomplishing what I DESIRE…
without succeeding in the PURPOSE for which I sent it.” (Isa55:11)
Psalm 107 displays the Old Covenant life cycle.
1) Yahweh’s goodness demonstrated.
2) people reject Him and rebel.
3) They go into affliction or captivity.
4) they cry out to Him.
5) He restores them because of His goodness.
…Wash,
Rinse…
…repeat
“…I know the THOUGHTS that I THINK toward you, saith the LORD,
THOUGHTS of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an EXPECTED END.” (Jer29:11)
HIS INTENT: AN EXPECTED END!
Through Christ Jesus… THE LOGOS…
…TO END THE CYCLE.
HE SENT HIS WORD…
“IT IS FINISHED!”
