The Mystery of His Will


 

THE MYSTERY OF HIS WILL

 

 

“If it be Thy will…..”

 

We have been taught to tag this phrase on the end of our prayer almost as an escape clause in case nothing happens

 

Nowhere does it say to pray that way!

 

We see“His Will” as some illusive thing cast to the edge of the universe…

and we are told to go find it… Like some great cosmic “hide-and-go-seek” perpetrated by an aloof and cruel God. 

 

1 John 5:14–15  

“This is the confidence which we have before Him, 

that, IF WE ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL,

He hears us.

And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, 

we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

 

This verse indicates that WE KNOW HIS WILL BEFORE WE ASK!

 

Ephesians 1:9–10  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, 

according to his good pleasure… 

he might gather together in ONE 

all things in Christ…

 

The Message Bible continues verses 11&12  “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are 

and what we are living for. 

Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, 

he had his eye on us…

had designs on us for glorious living…”

 

 

What is THE WILL of your Heavenly Father for you?

 

Romans 12:2  Be not conformed to this world: 

but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, 

that ye may PROVE what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

 

 

PROBLEM:

You now have the mind of Christ…(1Cor2:16)

But… you still have YOUR mind

 

SO…

 

How do you renew YOUR mind?

 

James 1:21 “…receive with meekness 

the engrafted WORD 

(Greek: logos – the thought, intent, purpose, and motive behind what is spoken), 

which is able to save

your souls  (psuche – mind, will, emotions, life)

 

The way He thinks becomes so ingrained in you that you see life from His perspective. 

 

I used to travel a lot when the family was young. I asked my wife how she made decisions for the household in my absence. 

 

She said, 

 

“I THINK WITH YOUR HEART”

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
