Suffering For Jesus
SUFFERING FOR JESUS
“Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh,
arm yourselves also with the same mind,
for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men,
but for the will of God.”
1Pet4:1-2
However… most of the time our suffering is not “for Jesus Christ”
A lot of reasons WE “suffer” are…
1. Because of our own soulish desires, ambitions, goals, thought processes, belief systems
2. Poor choices outside the “mind of Christ”
3. Not knowing the New Covenant the Word of God has established with better promises. (Heb8:1-13)
Since satan comes for [and affliction and persecution arise] “for the Word’s sake” (Mk4), the very Word (Seed) of Life and Grace has been stolen from our soil…
Often before it germinated…
Let alone produced a hundred fold crop.
We have been taught the “suffering” WE must “endure” is the physical stuff that it pleased God to already put upon Jesus Christ (Isa53)… as though we must fulfill some suffering Christ left “unfinished”.
The suffering Jesus Christ PROMISES US is:
Mtt10:22;Lk21:17
“And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.”
Mtt24:9
“You will be arrested, punished, and even killed. Because of me, you will be hated by people of all nations.”
Jn15:18-20
…If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you…”
Ahhhh… the promises of God…
Mtt5:11;Lk6:22
“How favored you become when you are hated, excommunicated, or slandered, or when your name is spoken of as evil BECAUSE OF YOUR LOVE FOR ME…”
So… with what mind do I arm myself as suffering in the flesh as Christ did?
Is it not to expect the reviling rejection and the abject vehement hatred thrown at us by a world who rejects God?
Phi2:5-7 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…”
“Set your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth.
For you died,
and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Col3:2-3)
2Cor1:5
“For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance,
so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.”
