Some Assembly Required
Have you ever bought something you had to assemble?
You bring home a bicycle in a box and tell the kids, “Hey, look… you have a new bike!”
Everyone excitedly passes that box saying, “we have a new bicycle.”
Eventually, you set aside “an hour” to assemble what is in the box.
You find yourself sitting with Hundreds of pieces strewn across the floor, attempting to decipher instructions and illustrations you swear were to another product altogether.
After a grueling day and a half, All the parts are properly connected and tightened to work together efficiently and smoothly.
Finally…
you have a fully functional bicycle.
1 Corinthians 12:18 “…God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him”.
Ezekiel 37:7–8 “…and the bones came together,
bone to his bone.”
And… lo, the sinews
and the flesh came up upon them,
and the skin covered them above:
but there was no breath in them.”
We gather together as the “Body of Christ” in the same box, pleased with having “assembled a body”,
but never let ourselves get…
“fitly joined together and compacted BY THAT WHICH EVERY JOINT SUPPLIETH”,
according to the effectual working in the measure of every part,” (Eph 4:15-16)
Bones produce marrow and grow only TOWARD THE JOINT!
A bone only fulfills it’s purpose connected to another bone.
Not just the individual bone by itself…
BUT…
EVERY JOINT SUPPLIES!
“…holding the Head, from which all the body BY JOINTS AND BANDS having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. (Col 2:19)
His progression:
1. Bones come together where you fit
2. Bones connected by sinews or ligaments to create a joint
3. Put flesh on it to give it muscular strength to work
4. Cover with skin to give form, unity, and purposeful direction
5. Breathe Spirit and Life into the body
Eze 37:9-10
“THEN said he unto me,
Prophesy unto the wind…
So I prophesied as he commanded me,
and the breath came into them,
and they lived,
and stood up upon their feet,
an exceeding great army.”
