Mystery of Marriage- - Even As Christ
EVEN AS CHRIST
As ones who have the "Spirit of Life which is in Christ Jesus" (Rom8:2), we demonstrate Him and His Kingdom to all with whom we come in contact. We are to be "living epistles, known and read of all men" (2Cor3:2) …a living, breathing letter... that people can watch and see what HE and His Kingdom are really like.
If we are to demonstrate His nature toward His Bride, shouldn't our spouses then be secure in the spirit of "I will never leave you, nor forsake you" (Heb13:5)?
Here are a few more things He does toward His Bride, which we are to reflect:
* He loved us first, before we loved Him (1Jn4:19)
* He ever lives to make intercession for us (Heb7:25)
* He came not to be served, but to serve (Mt20:28; Mk10:43-45)
* He cherishes and nourishes us (Eph5:29)
* He came that WE might have life, and that more abundantly ((Jn10:10)
* He speaks words to us that are spirit and life. (Jn 6:63)
* He lays down His life (mind, will, emotions, ambitions, desires, goals) for us... so we can live (Mk10:45; Jn10:11-17)
* He bears our burdens (Mk11:28)
* He is ever mindful of us (Ps115:12)
* He graved us upon the palm of His hand (Ps49:16)
* He has us as the apple of His eye. (Zech2:8)
* He takes joy in us (Isa65:18-19)
* He rejoices over us with singing (Zeph3:17)
* He loved us and bore everything, so we didn't have to… even though despised and rejected (Isa53:3-5)
* He answers BEFORE we even call (Isa65:24)
* He honors us (1Pet3:7)
* He loves and gave Himself for us (Eph5:25-31; Jn14:12)
...and that is just a start.
The mystery of marriage... people watching us and seeing the relationship between Christ and His Bride... how He lives toward her... and how she responds to Him. [(Eph5:21-33)
What if we not only did this toward our spouse, but with everyone we have contact? People would "taste and see that the Lord is good"
Being in Christ, we, too, are sent… “that THEY might have LIFE, and that THEY might have it MORE ABUNDANTLY.” (Jn10:10)
