Eternal Life and Abundant Life

 

 

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: 

I am come that they might have LIFE [ZOE], 

and that they might have it MORE ABUNDANTLY.” (Jn10:10)

 

 

ZOE:  to be alive, to live, life – mere vitality… even of plants

 

 

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting ZOE.” (Jn3:16)

 

 

“Whosoever eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal ZOE...” (Jn6:54-57)

 

 

“In him was LIFE [ZOE] and the ZOE was the light of men.” (Jn1:4)

 

 

“For in him we LIVE, and move, and have our being” (Acts17:28)

 

 

But… even though in Christ Jesus we NOW have eternal ZOE (Jn3:36;5:24;6:47,54;11:25-26;1Jn5:13)

 

 

…how do we have that ZOE…

      …“MORE ABUNDANTLY”?

 

“more abundantly”: - perissós - all-around, equidistant excess, "more than abundant”, beyond what is anticipated, exceeding expectation; going past the expected limit.

 

 

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath HE quickened [ZOOPOIEO] TOGETHERWITH HIM” (Col2:12-13)

 

 

“It is THE SPIRIT that quickeneth [ZOOPOIEO]” (Jn6:63)

 

 

Zoopoieo – 

·       to vitalize, make alive, cause to live, give life, quicken, invigorate (2Cor3:6; Gal3:21)

·       to re-animate, restore dead to life (1Cor15:45)

·       to give increase of physical life (Jn5:21;1Cor15:22;Rom4:14,8:11)

 

 

“For Christ… being put to death in the flesh, 

but quickened [ZOOPOIEO] BY THE SPIRIT” (1Pet3:18)

 

 

“But if THE SPIRIT of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, 

he that raised up Christ from the dead 

shall also quicken [ZOOPOIEO] 

your mortal bodies 

BY HIS SPIRIT that dwelleth in you.” (Rom8:11)

 

 

Notice a pattern yet for ABUNDANT ZOE?

 

 

“…as Christ was raised up from the dead 

by the glory of the Father, 

even so (in like manner as HE)

we also should walk 

in newness (a fresh, new condition or state)

of life (ZOE)

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, 

WE SHALL BE ALSO

in the likeness of

HIS resurrection” (Rom6:4-5)

 

 

 

NOW… 

 

 

Live like we really are on THIS side of the cross…

 

…resurrected with Christ BY THE SAME SPIRIT…

 

… and HE is quickening, re-vitalizing, rejuvenating, restoring, invigorating… 

 

…infusing HIS resurrection breath of life into every fiber of your mortal body…

 

So you have LIFE… 

 

AND THAT LIFE…

 

 

MORE ABUNDANTLY !

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
