Inherit The Promises




 INHERIT THE PROMISES


“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” (2 Cor 1:20)


So... why is it that we are not quite walking in the fulness of the promises of God?  

Why do we have a tendency to believe that the promises may be for everyone else, but not necessarily for us?

Why do we see the symptom and believe THAT rather than KNOWING THE TRUTH… that Christ BORE our sickness, disease, malady, sin, etc?


Doubt… unbelief… maybe not really knowing the heart of our Father... these are great places to start.


HOWEVER…

There are Two keys to fully living in “all the promises of God”.  

They are found in Heb 6:12:  " That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through FAITH and PATIENCE inherit the promises. "


1. FAITH

 

“Faith” is ALWAYS used as a noun - a person, place, or thing.  It is the SUBSTANCE and EVIDENCE… NOW.  It is not what you do to try to get something... it's a PLACE from which you see the situation, and from where your decisions are made.

2. PATIENCE


"Patience" is mainly translated from 2 Greek words....

 "hupomone" (constant, cheerful consistency) is used in Jas 1:3-4:  "…the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing".


The trying of your faith WORKS "Constant, cheerful, consistency " in you, 

which in turn works a perfect work, 

so you may be "perfect, entire… or WHOLE… 

wanting nothing"!!!


HOWEVER...

The word used in Heb 6:12 above is "makrothumia", which is usually translated "longsuffering". 


OH, GREAT!


We generally think that "long suffering" means to just grit your teeth and bear through it all. 


BUT... "makro" means long or enduring, and "thumos" means intense, fiery passion.


SO... Heb 6:12 would literally say, "...because you are IN CHRIST and see LIFE from HIS perspective... You continually endure with the same intense, fiery passion created in you from the beginning… and inherit the promises"

 

REJOICE!!!


YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM!

FORMING YOUR WORLD

CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”.
