A Son Is Given, PT 2
A SON IS GIVEN, PART 2
Isa9:6 “For unto us a CHILD is born, unto us a SON is given…”
NOTICE that it doesn't say unto us an Apostle is sent… unto us a Prophet is declared… unto us an Evangelist is proclaimed… unto us a Pastor is established… nor unto us a Teacher is appropriated…
…When the Creator of all things get ready to accomplish something in the Earth…
He doesn't send a GIFTED person…
…HE GIVES A SON!
A GIFTED person can still be immature, selfish, and even use the name of the Lord for his own vain purposes… building their own ministry, church, group, kingdom, business… or… their own… whatever. They simply have a GIFT… and unfortunately, because of immaturity and lack of CHARACTER, they will be led and directed by that GIFT.
Example: if I am a hammer… everything looks like a nail… and I WILL pound it.
If I believe I am a teacher… everything is an opportunity to teach.
A SON will always be a builder of the FAMILY NAME (definition of “SON” in Isa9:6)
and as a SON he…
· Will not seek his own glory (Jn8:50)
· Will not speak of himself (Jn7:16-18)
· Will not speak his own words (Jn14:10,24;Jn12:49)
· Will not do his own will (Jn5:30;Jn6:38)
Instead… if you have seen him… you've seen the one who sent him…
…The Father (Jn12:45;Jn14:9)
The Father GIVES His SON… “being the brightness of His glory and the EXPRESS IMAGE of His person…” (Heb1:1-3)
“EXPRESS IMAGE” is one Greek word: CHARAKTER.
“CHARAKTER”: properly, an engraving; (figuratively) an exact impression (likeness) which also reflects inner character.
Take a wild guess at what English word we have derived from “CHARAKTER”???!!!
Jn3:16 “For God SO LOVED the world that He GAVE His only begotten SON”
It is interesting that the word “SON” (huios) in Jn3:16 has nothing to do with how GIFTED the person is, but instead has everything to do with CHARACTER… defined as “being a fully mature, trained son sharing the same nature (and purpose) as their Father”
A SON always builds upon and fulfills the purpose of the Father... in His nature…
…reflecting only HIM
A SON is who the Father graciously bestows upon us (GIVES) in order that we can see…
…And experience…
…Not just another GIFTED PERSON
…But the very heart, nature, and CHARACTER of our FATHER…
…And what HE desires to BUILD IN US as HIS SONS.
