What Were You Thinking????

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!???

I love 2 Cor 10:4, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”

It explains the source of our weaponry, its effectiveness, and what our weapons destroy.

But verse 4 is a parenthetical statement smack in the center of instruction on where our battle lies and how to tear down the strongholds of the enemy.

So read verse 3&5 together.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh…”

  • “Casting down IMAGINATIONS,
  • and every high thing that exalteth itself against THE KNOWLEDGE OFGOD,
  • and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ.”

Prophesying of Christ’s day, Isaiah 10 speaks of the strategy of the enemy.

In his arrogance he removes all the boundaries so we no longer know our inheritance , nor the vastness of the Kingdom of God in our lives.

WE THINK this is now our situation, and have nothing to say.  (Isa 10:12-14)

BUT…

Verses 17–18. “…the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his (the Assyrian’s) thorns and his briers in one day;

And shall consume the glory of:

1)      his forest,

2)     and of his fruitful field,”

And then it explains what his forest and his fruitful field are:

“Both…

1)     soul

2)     and body:”

So… where is the battle?

In the glory of the enemy’s forest… that with which he can build… the mark of his power, might, wealth, and position… our soul  [psuche:- mind, will, emotions]

Once he has our thinking, our bodies bear the fruit of his labor to prove that his seed has produced.

“…For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” (Prov 23:7)

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”  (Prov 4:23)

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, EVEN AS [to the same degree and measure in which] THY SOUL PROSPERETH.”  (3 Jn 2)
