The Weapons of Our Warfare - PROPHESY!
I’ve heard that we are not supposed to fight anymore, because Christ won the battle. But then why did Paul “charge" Timothy to use the prophecies spoken to him to “war a good warfare"? (1 Tim 1:18)
Why would Paul say, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places? (Eph 6:12)
Why remind us that “though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh” and that “the WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds? (2 Cor 10:3-4)
One of our weapons is “the prophecies which went before on thee”
I like how the Passion Bible states 1 Tim 1:18:
…in keeping with the very first prophecies that were spoken over your life, and are now in the process of fulfillment in this great work of ministry, in keeping with the prophecies spoken over you. With this encouragement use your prophecies as weapons as you wage spiritual warfare by faith and with a clean conscience.
What if you haven’t had prophecy spoken over you?
Isn’t the whole of scripture the testimony of Jesus Christ? If it prophesys of Him, does it not also speak of Christ IN YOU? Are you not living epistle or letter known and read of all men? Are not ALL the promises of God, “yes and amen” to those who believe? Can we now use every word our Father has spoken as a weapon and proclaim it openly as FINISHED concerning us?
When HE spoke it… HE was prophesying concerning YOU!...
2 Peter 1:20–21 …no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Use what the Spirit of the Lord has spoken concerning you. Wield that sword with all boldness! It is speaking what HE BELIEVES about you and your life… in Christ.
