Waiting Upon The Lord
WAITING UPON THE LORD
Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
“but they that wait upon” - is one Hebrew word, "qavah".
It, as well as all Hebrew words and phrases, is meant to paint a picture in the mind of the listener/ reader.
It literally means, "to bind together (perhaps by twisting)"... To weave or intertwine.
The picture to be painted here is to take a bunch of smaller twine and weave it all together to make something strong enough to hold a ship fast to anchor in a harbor- even through a storm
So... Reading it in THAT LIGHT...
"they who intertwine or intermingle their life bonding to the Lord... They shall renew their strength...”
We, in our finite English, apply our main definition to this particular verse and think we are to wait around to be acted upon by some outside force.
HOWEVER… If we, in the very fiber if our being, are woven and intermingled into the nature, essence, perspective, faith, and life of the Living God...
· THAT is when we renew our strength.
· THAT is when we mount up with wings as eagles,
soaring over the storm of circumstances and problems surrounding us…
gaining the perspective from the height of the throne of our Father.
· THAT is when we run this race with joy and perseverance, and not grow weary.
· THAT is when we walk in faith through this life boldly, and not faint.
Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being…
Intertwined and woven with our Father, We, indeed, are now IN HIM…
united in purpose and in heart…
and can truly say, "if you have seen me, you have seen my Father".
We now come from a place of secure strength, regardless of our circumstances or surroundings..
We demonstrate:
His nature…
His ways…
His kingdom…
And the very thoughts and intents of His heart…
…just because...
THAT IS WHO WE ARE!
