Titles
TITLES…
Why do we call men by their gift or function instead of just their name?
Why do we make what they do a title… ie Pastor Paul, Bishop Bob, or Apostle Alvin?
WE call Paul , "Apostle Paul"... they didn't in scripture.
Paul said he was one… but it was a description of purpose… not a title.
Why don't we also say, "Carpenter Calvin”, "Stone Dude Steve", "Janitor Jim"... "Plumber Pete", or "Mother Theresa"? (well... forget the last one).
For some reason our culture is so enamored with titles that we carry it over to our tiny religious world we are trying to create.
WHY?
Does it give us a signification or importance we are lacking?.
We tend to filter everything through the Levitical Priesthood of position and title, rather than truly believing we are now of the order of Melchizedek.
We still operate by a premise… out of tradition… believing it is "respect" or honor due someone… not realizing a shift has already been made from the Levitical Priesthood, which has entrapped our church culture... to the Melchizedek Priesthood...
Paul calls them “carnal, walking as mere men” when they begin to esteem ministers in such a way, saying…
“Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed… So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase (1 Cor 3:1-10)
Aren't we sons of the Most High God who find their identity in their FATHER?
Phil3:8-9
"More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,
and may be found IN HIM..."
Heb 7:11-12
“…For the PRIESTHOOD BEING CHANGED, there is made of NECESSITY a change also of the law.”
If we are a “royal priesthood” (1 Pet 2:9) in the lineage of our forerunner, Christ… then we – as He –are no longer priests after the order of Aaron nor Levi… but are “priests forever after the order of Melchisedec” (Heb 5:6-10; 6:20; 7:1-21)
Rom 8:29 says, “He was the firstborn among many brethren”
BRETHREN… Not “apostle”… nor “teacher”… not spiritual father... nor “pastor”
CHRIST DID NOT SAY, “LUKE, I AM YOUR FATHER!”
Instead He said, “I show you the Father” (Jn 14:8,9; 16:15,25)
In fact In Matthew 23:1-15 He rebukes them for this very practice, saying,
“ALL OF YOU ARE BROTHERS!”
