Mirror, Mirror
MIRROR, MIRROR…
What do you see when you look in the mirror?
Do you see all of your shortcomings, failures, and flaws? Do you see someone who is a disappointment to not only yourself, but others, as well? Do you see a person cloaked with guilt and weighed down with the cares of life?
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Cor 3:18)
I had always pictured this verse as talking about looking in a mirror and seeing the glory of the Lord, as though it were a light over my shoulder in the background somewhere.
BEHOLD -
from a Greek word and it’s root meaning:
“to purposely and earnestly gaze
At one’s own reflection
with wide open eyes…
as at something remarkable”
SO… in this case you are looking in the mirror to see YOU!
And… since you are IN CHRIST, you will see in YOU the glory of the Lord.
You will with awe peer through the fog of what we perceive to be our present state to see with clarity the richness of a mystery, which is:
CHRIST - THE MESSIAH…
in you…
the hope of glory. (Col 1:27)
You will see the new creature (2 Cor 5:17)
Created in the likeness and image of the Creator…
Old things…
ARE PASSED AWAY…
BEHOLD…
ALL THINGS…
ARE BECOME…
NEW!
You see what your Father sees…… GLORY!
You see a beloved creation, HIS SON, full of power, might, and strength… victorious… prepared unto every good work.
AND… as you, with awe and wonder… behold THAT GLORY…
YOU ARE CHANGED –
“metamorphoo” –
a metamorphosis…
transfigured and transformed…
into THAT same image …
from GLORY TO GLORY…
BY THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD…
and all you do is BEHOLD –
purposely, intently, and earnestly see in YOUR REFLECTION…
WHAT YOUR FATHER BELIEVES
IS ALREADY THERE!
