ON THE ROAD
ON THE ROAD
Several
years back I was reading Hebrews 3:13 NKJV
“but exhort one another daily,
while it is called "Today,"
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
And one word
in particular leapt off the page and seared itself into my heart…
… “DAILY”!
Being a
“word nerd”, I had to look up “DAILY” to see if there was any nuance of
meaning shedding broader light, rather than just breezing over it without much
thought.
“DAILY” is actually translated from two Greek words, “hekasten
hemeran”.
“hekasten” is described by The Bible Hub “HELPS – Word Studies” as:
(from hekas, "separate") – each (individual) unit viewed distinctly, i.e. as opposed to "severally" (as a group).
“hemeran”
means “day” -
(literally) the time space between dawn and
dark, or the whole 24 hours (depending on context)
The literal
translation of the verse reads,
“but encourage other each
every
day
while
today it is called…”
Encourage each other… EVERY DAY!
AND… what does it mean to “encourage”?
The Greek
word is “parakaleite”, a form of the verb, “parakaleo”.
STRONG’S
definition: beseech, call for, urge
– from “para” (close-beside) and “kaleo” (to call); to call near, i.e.
Invite, invoke (by imploration, hortation or consolation) -- beseech, call for,
(be of good) comfort, desire, (give) exhort(-ation), intreat, pray.
properly, "make a call" from being "close-up
and personal."
Now… why do
this EVERY DAY?
Because
Jas1:23-24NKJV states that we are “…like a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner
of man he was.”
- We look in the mirror of the WORD
- We see our NATURAL (Greek
“Genesis”) face
- We go about our daily stuff
- We forget our Genesis
- WE IMMEDIATELY FORGET
WHO WE REALLY ARE!!!
…The two verses encapsulate why
we simply hear, but NOT DO
THE WORD.
So… we need
someone to come alongside… make a call… be close-up and personal…
…to help us
remember…
…what we were
created to be…
…what our inheritance is
…Who we REALLY ARE!
…to help us
get back
ON THE R.O.A.D.
REMIND - ONE – ANOTHER
- DAILY
