CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART

 

What is CIRCUMCISION?

 

According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, CIRCUMCISION is a surgery to remove the skin (called the foreskin) that covers the tip of the penis.

While the benefits of CIRCUMCISION has long been debated, the American Academy of Pediatrics states, “CIRCUMCISION lowers the risk of certain diseases, infections, cancers, and other conditions often related to bacteria and other contaminants.”

 

It is interesting that before science figured out it was advantageous for mankind, YAHWEH stated, “and you shall be CIRCUMCISED in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of THE COVENANT between Me and you.” (Gen17:11)

 

God established a COVENANT that not only protected the procreative instrument of His chosen people, but preserved the purity of the SEED of His COVENANT to be passed from generation to generation.

 

The problem with the FIRST COVENANT:

…it was dependent upon both parties doing their part.

So… even when declaring the blessings of the Abrahamic COVENANT, God gives an indication of what was to come:

"The LORD your God will CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEART

and THE HEART OF YOUR DESCENDANTS,

to love the LORD your God

with ALL YOUR HEART

and with all your soul,

so that you may live.” (Deut30:6NASB95)

 

And then prophesied again through Jeremiah and Ezekiel:

"Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD,

when I will make a NEW COVENANT…

…I will put My law in their minds,

and WRITE IT ON THEIR HEARTS”  (Jer31:31,33;Heb8:10)

 

“…I will make A NEW COVENANT with you. It will last forever” (Eze16:60NirV)

 

Notice in Deut30:6 above, YAHWEH says, “the LORD your God will CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEART”

…HE will do it! 

NO FLESH will be involved in any part of THIS NEW COVENANT.

 

 

Paul further explains this NEW COVENANT:

“For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is CIRCUMCISION that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and CIRCUMCISION is that which is OF THE HEART, by the Spirit, not by the letter...” (Rom2:28-29NASB95)

“…written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on TABLETS OF HUMAN HEARTS.” (2Cor3:3)

 

 

But… why CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART?

 

In Mtt13 it says the sower sows the SEED... the WORD OF GOD… IN YOUR HEART!

The word "seed" is the Greek word "sperma"

 

 

HMMMM….

God CIRCUMCISES OUR HEART…

…cuts off the flesh… so that when the WORD OF GOD - His sperma – comes into… or out of OUR HEART, it touches NO FLESH. 

 

HIS SEED is neither mingled nor tainted with anything unclean,

so it will reproduce

after HIS likeness and image

in the ready womb of the heart in the hearer.

CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”.
