EVERY WHIT WHOLE Sometimes I enjoy the poignant way King James states a scripture. John 7:23 KJV If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? But… what is “ EVERY WHIT ”? The Greek word "holos" , translated above as “EVERY WHIT” , is used in the New Testament to describe the whole or all of something in its entirety , without division or lacking any part. The Greek interlinear renders “every whit” as: “entirely” , reading : “entirely a man sound I made” (which strangely sounds like Yoda from Star Wars) “ Holos” is used as “ALL” in Mtt22:37: “Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, and with ALL your mind.’” Mtt16:26 demonstrates the usage of “holos” to describe the totality of which something encompass...
