Daughters of Zelophehad

 

In the Old Testament, “Ben” was the word used for “son”.  It meant “builder of the family name”.

 

Daughters weren’t considered to have any inheritance , nor to be builders of the Lineage or family heritage.

 

 

“And the LORD said unto Moses,  “Divide the land for an inheritance according to the number of names”. Num26:52-56

 

“And those that were numbered were twenty three thousand,

all males…

…from a month old and upward”  Num26:62

 

 

Numbers 26 lists all the household names for the inheritance.

One, however, was disqualified:

 

“Zelophehad

…had no sons,

…but daughters…” Num26:33

 

 

Moses started dividing up the land..

 

 

“Then the daughters of Zelophehad “showed up”

(approached, came forward, drew near with purpose)

 

…and stood before Moses and all the congregation, saying,

 “Our father died in the wilderness,

yet he was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah;

but he died in his own sin,

 

and he had no sons.

 

Why should the name of our father be withdrawn from among his family because he had no son?

Give us a possession among our father’s brothers.”

 

 

 So Moses brought their case before the Lord.

 

 

 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

        “The daughters of Zelophehad are right…

Give them land as an inheritance among their father’s relatives.

 

GIVE THEM THEIR FATHER’S INHERITANCE..”

 

It became an ordinance in Israel.” Num27:1-7

 

 

WE ALL HAVE EQUAL INHERITANCE AS A SONS!

 

“…you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus...

·       There is neither Jew nor Greek,

·       there is neither slave nor free man,

·       there is neither male nor female;

·       you are all one in Christ Jesus.

·       And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants,

HEIRS according to promise.” Gal3:26-29

 

 

Rom8:16-17NKJV

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

and if children, then heirs

-heirs of God

and joint heirs [having the same inheritance portion]  

with Christ…”

 

 

YOU ARE QUALIFIED AS AN HEIR!

 

 

“it is those WHO ARE OF FAITH who are SONS of Abraham.” Gal3:7

 

 

Gal4:6-7)

“…AND IF A SON,

THEN AN HEIR OF GOD THROUGH CHRIST.”

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
