SUBMIT TO GOD

SUBMIT TO GOD

Jas4:7 “SUBMIT yourselves therefore to God.

RESIST the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Through the years this verse has been widely discussed but usually quoted without the first half.

However, in the context of the book of James, the first portion is a very integral part of the reason WHY you can “resist the devil and he WILL flee”

·      James 1: enduring temptation and viewing life from your identity in Christ (your natural/genesis face)

·      James 2: God is not a respecter of persons, nor should you be… all are justified by faith

·      James 3: The power of the tongue

·      James 4: The reasons you don’t get what you desire

Ø  4:3 You struggle and fight because you ask amiss

Ø  4:6 He resists the proud… gives grace to the HUMBLE

Ø  4:8 Draw nigh to God…  purify your hearts you double minded

Ø  4:10 HUMBLE yourselves and He will lift you up

        Ø  Now… in the middle of that… James4:7

The Greek word for “SUBMIT” is “Hypotagēte” … a plural command form of the verb “hupotasso” (hypotasso). “hupo” UNDER… and “tasso” – a deliberate, specific placement within a fixed order of arrangement.

This was a commonly used word in ancient military language for designating (appointing, commissioning) a specific status.

[NOTE: “RESIST” is also a military term – “anthistemi”: to strongly resist an opponent, take a firm stand against (“holding one's ground," i.e. “refusing to be moved or pushed back").

…the root from which we get “antihistamine”]

You can't RESIST if you are still using YOUR ability in battle to get what you desire.

EVERYTHING stems SOLELY from

COMING UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF YOUR ORDAINED POSITION.

So… Humble yourself…

YOU CANNOT DO THIS!

What is your commission… Your rank… your designation… your ordained order within this Kingdom?

“…you are no longer a slave, BUT A SON; and if a son, then an heir through God.” (Gal4:7)

Jn15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you…

AND APPOINTED YOU

…so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name… He may now give to you.”

REMEMBER WHERE YOU ARE SET!

REFUSE TO BE MOVED!

NOW… SPEAK FROM WHERE HE HAS PLACED YOU!
