HOW DO I KNOW?  Part 2

 

Abram, trying to determine if God’s promise was true, asks…

“Lord God, HOW DO I KNOW…?” (Gen15:8)

 

THEN…

Gen15:17 “And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold 

  • a smoking furnace (a fire-pot, oven, furnace), 
  • and a burning lamp (torch, lamp, to shine light) 

 

TWO THINGS… “passed between those pieces.”

 

 

1.       THE WORD

 

 

First of all… THE WORD OF GOD is the only thing sharp enough to divide and distinguish between all the parts of what we believe God told us. 

 

 

Heb4:12 “For the WORD of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, 

piercing even to the dividing asunder of the

  • soul and spirit
  • joints and marrow
  • and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

 

 

Ps119:105 “THY WORD is a LAMP unto my feet, and a LIGHT unto my path.”

 

 

Jn1:1-4 “In the beginning was the WORD… In him was LIFE; and the LIFE was the LIGHT of men.”

 

 

Jer20:9 “…But His WORD was in my heart like a BURNING FIRE

Shut up in my bones…”

 

 

Jn17:17 “Sanctify (make holy, consecrate, separate) them through thy TRUTH:

…THY WORD IS TRUTH.”

 

 

 

2.      THE SPIRIT

 

 

Even in the beginning 

when everything

“was without form and an empty waste, 

and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. 

THE SPIRIT OF GOD

was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. 

And God SAID,

Let there BE LIGHT; 

and there WAS LIGHT!”  (Gen1:1-3AMPC)

 

 

Ps18:28 “For thou wilt LIGHT MY CANDLE: the Lord my God will ENLIGHTEN my darkness.”

 

 

Pr20:27 “The SPIRIT of man is the CANDLE of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”

 

 

“…He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and FIRE…” (Mtt3:11-12;Lk3:16-17) 

 

 

1Cor2:9-13 “…the SPIRIT searches all things, yes, the deep things of God…

Now we have received, 

not the spirit of the world, 

but the spirit which is of God; 

that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God…

…COMPARING SPIRITUAL THINGS WITH SPIRITUAL.”

 

 

Rom8:14 “For as many as are LED by the SPIRIT OF GOD, they are the sons of God.”

 

 

1Jn5:6 “And it is the Spirit that bears witness, 

…because THE SPIRIT IS TRUTH”

 

 

The WORD and the SPIRIT walk between the pieces in the dark valley of decision (Joel3:14)

and THE TRUTH gives LIGHT 

to THE WAY of

PEACE AND LIFE.

THE DAILY LOAD

  THE DAILY LOAD   “Blessed be the Lord Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah” (Ps68:19)   The word, “selah” is used throughout the Psalms and other Hebrew music and poetry as a notation similar to “a rest” in our modern music. The Perfect Will of God

  The Perfect Will of God   Rom12:2  “…Do not be CONFORMED to this WORLD , but be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of your MIND , that you may PROVE WHAT IS that GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT WILL OF GOD .”   I was always taught that there were three different WILLS of God… And you are placed in one WILL or another determined by your maturity level, your faith, and your closeness to God.   However… let's dissect this verse to clearly see the intent behind each part.   ·        CONFORMED – properly means: assuming a similar  outward  form (expression) by following the same  pattern  (model, mold). ·        WORLD - properly, an  age  ( era , "time-span"),  characterized by a specific quality  (type) of existence ·        TRANSFORMED - metamorphóō - changing form or shape in keeping with a transformed inner reality...
