Two Kinds of Unbelief


 

 

 

TWO KINDS OF UNBELIEF.

 

It is tough to discover you are in UNBELIEF. 

 

Hebrews 3:16 speaks about how God promised many things to His children, but they could not enter in because of “an evil heart of UNBELIEF”

 

“…he could there do no mighty work… And he marveled because of their UNBELIEF.” (Mk6:5)

 

Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through UNBELIEF;

but was strong in faith, 

giving glory to God; 

And being fully persuaded that, 

what HE had promised, 

HE was able also to perform.” (Rom4:20-21)

 

The “UNBELIEF” above is “apistia”…  from “a” (NO) and “pistis” (FAITH).    

 

The remedy for this type of unbelief:  Romans 10:17

“…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word (rhema- to open the mouth, utterance) of God.” 

 

Since, “God has dealt to EVERY man THE measure of faith”(Rom12:3), one begins to use that “mustard seed” gift… planting, watering, nurturing it with the water of the Word. 

 

 BUT…

What happens if we refuse to give our hearts to what He has said?

We know HE said it, but we don’t believe we have fully attained THAT promise… not entered THAT PROMISEDland…

…WE ARE STILL TRYING TO GET IN!

 

THAT'S “apeitheia”… the second Greek word for “unbelief"…

…describing an obstinate, rebellious person… 

…UNPERSUADABLE

…DISOBEDIENT

…hearing, yet refusing to believe.

 

“Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: 

but unto them which be DISOBEDIENT (apeithia)

the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner… a stone of stumbling,  a rock of offence, 

even to them which stumble at the word, being DISOBEDIENT (apeithia)…” (1Pet2:7-8)

 

“…IN TIME PAST you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of DISOBEDIENCE (apeithia)” (Eph2:2)

 

“For unto us was the gospel preached as well as unto them: 

but the word preached did NOT PROFIT THEM, NOT BEING MIXED WITH FAITH in them that heard it. 

For we which HAVE BELIEVED do ENTER into REST.”

“…and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of UNBELIEF (apeithia)

…Let us labour to enter into that REST, lest any man fall after the same example of UNBELIEF. (apeithia)” (Heb4:2-11)

 

The ONE who spoke the worlds into being…

HAS SPOKEN…

IT IS FOREVER SETTLED…

            …REST!

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
