The Good Fight of Faith


 


1 Timothy 6:11–12 “But thou, O man of God…..  Fight the good fight of faith….”

FIGHT – this is the Greek word from which we get our “to agonize”.  Although it is usually translated “strive” or “fight”, it is also found as “labour fervently” once.

It means “To engage in intense struggle involving physical or non physical force against strong opposition; to struggle, to fight”

“If my kingdom belonged to this world my followers would fight” Jn 18:36


It seems as though because “we wrestle not against flesh and blood” that we take a more resigned posture than a forceful, engaged and active stance. 

We are to “stand, and after having done all… to remain standing”, because IT IS ALREADY OURS!  


The enemy is there to steal what you already have,.. kill what is already living,.. and destroy what our Heavenly Father has created us to be! (Eph 6:11-18; Jn 10:10). 


“BUT THAT WHICH YE HAVE ALREADY HOLD FAST TILL I COME.” (Rev 2:25)

What is it that we already have?  Healing, abundant life, deliverance, wholeness… “all things that pertain unto life and Godliness” (2 Pet 1:3)


Note that we are encouraged to “fight”… contend… labor fervently in battle against enemies, seen or unseen. 

AND… we are to fight “the good fight”!  

That “good fight” is not just beating the air nor flailing aimlessly… it is a fight of FAITH. 


Once again, faith is not a decision, nor something you are trying to get… 

it is A PLACE FROM WHICH DECISIONS ARE MADE. 

It a place from which you see life… a place from which you know in Whom you are seated and convinced of what you have… it is a vantage point from which you see all situations and circumstances in the light of what CHRIST has already done and HIS KINGDOM being at hand, working through you in power, might, and strength.


Why is that such an agonizing process?  

Because everything that we see, feel, touch, smell, taste, etc… contradicts and tries to steal that position on which we stand. 

Our mind, will, and emotions (soul) go crazy in attempting to find solid ground on which to gain footing and simply STAND in what we already have. We have a rough time finding the boundary to the kingdom already established in us so we can stand at the border to enforce it and disallow anything not allowed by our KING.



YOU WANT VICTORY IN THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL?

1 John 5:4 "For WHATSOEVER is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, EVEN OUR FAITH."


Are you born of God?


Is what which was finished by Christ and has been given to you… is that “born of God”?


Then… you were brought to the Kingdom for such a time as this (EST 4:14)… 

you HAVE overcome the world and ALL that it brings with it.

FAITH is the place from which you make your stance. 

NOW FAITH IS…. (Heb 11:1). You don’t need anymore evidence or proof… you have it. 

You don’t need to await a manifestation so you can see it… you have the substance … the very essence and existence of it… because the Creator of Heaven and Earth said, “let there be…”… and there was!

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
