Born Free in a New Covenant
For some reason we are taught a mingled seed and we tend to live part in the Old Covenant and part in the New, picking and choosing where it best matches our faith.
Old Covenant:
Heb 11:13. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Heb 8:6. But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises
New Covenant
2 Cor 1:20. For ALL the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us
if we could just grasp even a little of the New Covenant and walk in what Christ believes about what HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED, we would be so full of joy and peace, and would live in a liberty unparalleled to what we have ever known
As a NEW creature in Christ, you were not merely "set free"... You are not in bondage, nor entrapped in a situation awaiting a savior... you were MADE FREE... CREATED FREE... BORN FREE... a new creation! You ARE a son of the Living God
Take a look at how these next verses are actually written
Jn 8:36. If the Son therefore shall MAKE YOU FREE, ye shall be free indeed.
Jn 8:31-32. ... If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall MAKE YOU FREE.
Gal 5:1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath MADE US FREE, and be not entangled again with the yoke of Bondage
