The Potter and The Clay


 

THE POTTER AND THE CLAY

 

When the potter begins to work with the clay, he already has in his mind what the end result will be. 

 

“The potter, for instance, is always assumed to have complete control over the clay, making with one part of the lump a lovely vase, and with another a pipe for sewage. Can we not assume that God has the same control over human clay?” (Rom 9:21 Phillips Trans)

 

You are MY workmanship created unto good works. (Eph 2:10)

 

You are not YOUR own workmanship (Heb 4:10-11)

 


I am the Alpha ... and the Omega... the beginning AND the end (Rev 1:8,11; 21:6, 22:13) 

 

I began this work in you and… I… will also make sure it is finished! (Phil 1:6)

 

You are COMPLETE in Me. (Col 2:10)

 

I work in you both the will AND the ability to do MY good pleasure. (Phil 2:13)

 

All of my grace abounds toward you; “that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”. (2 Cor 9:8)


You have been predestinated to be conformed into MY likeness and image. (Rom 8:29-30; Eph 1:5,11)

 

“I have already determined that you WILL BE in MY likeness and image.  

I will make sure that it happens.

A lot of times in your attempts to make all of this come about you have gotten frustrated and wanted to give up. 

But.... you are MY workmanship.  

You can rest now.  Stop trying to make it happen. (Heb 4:10)

 

LIVE!

 

ABUNDANTLY!

 

I will make sure that everything comes out the way I have already determined that you will be."



The potter and the clay have an interesting relationship. 

 

The clay can not mold itself… shape itself… nor decide what it will become. 

 

Neither does the potter begin the formation and then tell the clay to finish.  

 

He diligently works that clay with his own hands until it is formed and fashioned into what HE had pictured in his mind all along.  

 

He saw what it really was...

 

even while it was still a simple, messy lump of clay.

FORMING YOUR WORLD

  Forming Your World     Have you been in a place in life where you feel like your world has no form, reason, nor rationale to it… like it is void of meaning or direction… and it seems like the darkness is so deep and thick that you not only can't see, but are so disoriented you have no clue as to which way is up?     How do you get out of THAT?     Gen1:1-2 describes just that scenario, but on a grand universal scale: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. CONVICTION

  CONVICTION   I have frequently heard the phrase, “the Holy Spirit CONVICTED me”… or… “I was CONVICTED by the Lord”.  As a young boy I was taught that God was this big eye in the sky continually watching to see if I was being good… and the Holy Spirit, being on my shoulder, would  speak in my ear to bring that guilt… shaming me back to the right path.the moment I stepped out of line   But… why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to us?     In  Jn16:7 Christ calls the Holy Spirit “ THE COMFORTER ”. He uses the term, “ parakletos ”, which was used in NT times of an  attorney (lawyer)… someone  giving evidence that stands up in court .   It comes from two words: “ para ” (close-beside), and “ kaleo ” (make a call).
