Casting Down Imaginations Part 2
CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS Part 2
In the last article we talked about the thought processes behind our imaginations… the roads we travel… and the destinations at which we arrive because of them.
These thought processes become strongholds,
…but we have non-carnal weapons which are mighty through God to pull them down. (2Cor10:4)
We talked about “WHY” we needed to cast them down… but never really discovered the “HOW” to do so.
Once again, without the verse 4 parenthetical statement, let’s read 2 Corinthians 10:3,5:
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh… Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
Since these formed imaginations set themselves up in an exalted position, diametrically opposed to the very Kingdom, character and nature of our Heavenly Father…
HOW DO WE CAST THEM DOWN???
The next section of that verse brings the key…
“…bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
BRINGING…
…Not just standing there commanding…
turning your thoughts against your other thoughts
…willing yourself into a better place.
We round up and capture all of those scattered, bunny chasing thoughts…
and BRING them…
Submitting them at the feet of Christ…
Laying them out before Him as a sacrifice…
Allowing HIM and Holy Spirit to walk between the pieces as a smoking furnace and burning lamp (Gen15:1-18)
…not only burning away all the dross, but illuminating the path of life.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Ps119:105)
“Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way…” (Lk24:32)
Allowing the WORD as a life-giving, powerful and sharp two-edged sword to pierce and distinguish between our
Soul and Spirit
Joints and Marrow
And even the thoughts and intents of our heart (Heb4:12)
This is a RELATIONSHIP…
Intimate and real…
Which He desired before you or I ever knew Him. (1Jn4:19)
“Casting ALL your care upon HIM; for HE careth for you.” (1Pet5:7)
So…
BRING IT!
TO HIM!
